Bret and Tina
Dear Birth Family,
As we start our letter to you, the words we use just don’t seem enough to address what you must be experiencing and feeling right now. You have made a courageous decision to form an adoption plan and we are honored to be considered as part of your plan. We’re sure this is a difficult time for you, and we hope that you will have peace now, and going forward.
We were married in 2007, and we were surprised to find out that we were pregnant almost right away. We were thrilled as we felt that having children would be such a blessing for us and that we could provide a great home for our child. Unfortunately, we miscarried our first baby. A short time later, we were pregnant again. Half way through the pregnancy, our baby was diagnosed with a fatal heart condition, and she passed away 12 weeks later. The loss of our babies was heartbreaking – but we’re glad that we were able to give them life. We had the opportunity to love even more deeply, and grow closer together as a couple.
Because the babies didn’t have genetic problems, we tried to get pregnant again. Unfortunately, we could not get pregnant. We sought out the help of fertility specialists. But after a couple of years, we decided to stop, knowing that there are children who we can welcome into our home through adoption.
Our home is in a kid-friendly, diverse neighborhood in one of the best school districts in West Michigan. We believe we have a lot to offer your child, beyond financial, physical and emotional security. We are an adventurous family who love to play games, laugh, bike, hike, camp and travel. We can’t wait to introduce children to these things, and to help them find the things that will make them grow into their full potential.
Faith plays a very important role in our lives. As a Christian family, we will continue to share Christ’s love. We embrace our belief that all of life is sacred, hope is real, and tomorrow can be better than today.
Our family and friends are very supportive of us. They are almost as excited as us to be part of our expanding family! We are thankful for the many positive influential people in our lives and know that children in our home will be able to benefit from these relationships as well.
We intend to provide the best of everything we can for your child, including relationships with your family to the level that you are comfortable with. Love for a child isn’t limited to a set number of people, and we believe that your child can only benefit from love that is shared genuinely.
We did not get married for the sole purpose of having children, but we do believe that expanding our family is part of God’s plan for our lives. You will find us to be a fun, loving, and honest family who will share those traits with your child.
Thank you for taking the time to read our profile. We hope and pray that you are surrounded by love as you make this decision for yourself and your child.
Love,
Bret & Tina
